The unplanned wooden cabin: Materialising the universal current

I’d love to share a practical story about building without planning. Or how me and my husband materialised the universal current in the form of a wooden cabin of love and blisters (and some discussions and ****).

I’ve lived with my husband for quite a while in two tents on a piece of land that is pretty much exposed to wind. There was also a lot of rain pouring from sky due to the season, and more and more little streams were flowing around our small homes.

So, imagine dropping body waste in these conditions. It’s not funny. It’s a pain in the ass. The need to build at least a covered outdoor toilet got urgent. We only had this clear intention, building a covered outdoor toilet.

But the toilet wanted to be a wooden cabin. That’s why we have now a two room cabana with an outdoor toilet, and even some extra storage places for bicycles and more.

How did that happen? Well, because we allowed the universal current to flow freely. To materialise in the form we actually needed. And because we trusted the process and ourselves.

And the crucial thing is, we had no prior experience in building a big structure like a cabin. And the icing on the cake is, we only used recycled materials.

Because we only used materials and simple tools we’ve collected on waste places, trash bins from companies, the previous land we lived on, and the land we’re currently on (like in this case burnt fallen trees), we had to put the pieces together like a puzzle. So all forms and structures appeared whilst building. Which is absolutely amazing when you see how things come together and fit perfectly without any prior planning. And how special features appear like hooks and patterns.

Sure, we had to invest some Euros for screws and nails. And of course some physical effort (and a little pain). But this was worth it.

The whole process revealed many things like following the universal current, nature decides the form, and that incredible unexpected things materialise when time and space align. And especially when the land owner is a super special pure being giving us the space to express ourselves in this way.

We humans are capable of doing things we never did before simply by doing them and trusting the process.

And me and my husband are super glad that we can finally deeply relax in our special sanitary place. What a relief.

  1. hey dears, just want to express me being happy to find your story here. thank your for sharing. it’s so lovely to see your cabin back … and it has even grown since i visited.
such a beautiful reminder on the real life.
happy to live in the same world as you.

  2. Love to see the universal current in your proces from scratch, without any plan or preparation, building a lovely little cabin from ‘left over’ material.
Still not easy to live like that in lots off rain, off grid. Respect!

    1. Thanks. Yes, it was a rewarding experience building this cabin. Uh yes, the weather was super intense. You really feel it when living like that. And the more relaxed you are the easier it is.
